From Counting Crows to Understanding Zero — Help Us Make Maths Magical, Again
After the success of our Term 1 audio stories, we’re back with more — this time, to help children understand subtraction, zero, and the world of numbers beyond ten. Through over 30 immersive audio lessons, we’re bringing Class 1, Term 2 Mathematics to life, one story at a time.
- These lessons are made for the villages of Tamil Nadu
- Told in simple spoken Tamil, rooted in real life
- Shared freely through ManMaking.co.in, our rural learning platform
The Learning Method
Children won’t just learn to subtract.
They’ll watch a clever fox share fruits, hear how a boy loses his marbles, and discover what zero means when a basket is empty.
In our epic concept story, Krishna and the Empty Butter Pot, the divine mischief leads to the idea of nothingness—zero not as emptiness, but as something to understand, feel, and count.
They’ll compare princes and strengths in a tale of archery and awe.
In Rama and the Bow of Shiva, children understand “greater than” and “lesser than” through the drama of who can lift the divine bow—and who cannot.
Each chapter becomes an experience — not just a lesson. Concepts like:
- What does it mean to take away?
- How is zero different from one?
- What does 17 really look like when grouped into tens and ones?
- Are all introduced through story, play, movement, and conversation.
Each chapter includes:
- Two fictional stories, richly imagined from village life
- Two stories from epics and puranas, matched to the concept
- Child-friendly concept explanation through story recall
- Interactive audio tasks and body-based learning
- A full teacher script for guided, playful teaching
Why This Work Matters?
In many rural homes, zero doesn’t just mean a number — it can mean absence.
A child who fails to understand math early, often believes, “I can’t learn.”
We want to change that.
We want her to hear:
“You can count. You can compare. You can think. You can learn.”
Through the voice of a grandmother’s tale, or a sparrow’s riddle.
Through story, joy, and Tamil, we give children the confidence to face math without fear.
Funding Goal: ₹110,000 INR
